We are a West Midlands based indie rock and pop covers band performing in Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, Dudley, Walsall, Oldbury, Telford and
Bilston venues.

JOHN
JOHNVocals
“Who is John… an enigma wrapped in a riddle, written in a confusing code. He’s the frontman who refuses to be known as our frontman, he’s our lead singer who wants to do BV on every song.
He’s the reason that every band member is tagged as “& vocals” on our own webpage
He’s also the reason we exist in our current format, stepping in at a crucial time when we needed a lead singer and frontman and then paradoxically doing everything he can to push us all to the fore instead.
So if he’s not your traditional frontman what is he?
If you have ever been lucky enough to come to our gigs you already know the answer to this… he’s our enabler. With his easy charm and down to earth nature he brings out the best in all of us as well as any crowd he’s in front of. Will he be in amongst you delegating his vocal responsibilities further onto you? Defo. Will he also be encouraging the punters to be getting rounds in? Of course. Will he be helping in any way to set up any of our equipment… not a chance. But we’ll forgive him that because as it happens, for as much as he protests “I’m not the frontman” he’s got an amazing vocal tone and I’ve not yet seen him fail to whip a crowd into a frenzy. So who is John? There’s only one way you’ll ever find out the answer to that question…”

TIM
TIMBass & Vocals
“Tim is our bass player. At the heart of the rhythm section, he has a great ear and drives the beat forward. Tim brings energy and feeling in his vocals… notably howling with Pixies or belting his beloved Foo Fighters.

Tim’s love of music and our band comes through in everything he does for Unsupervised. Without the steady bass groove he provides we would be a lot less than the sum of our parts.

For all of his qualities, Tim does have his failings. With a background in IT Tim has become obsessed with buying (and re-buying) equipment for the band. Who knew that so many different cables could be purchased all to do the same job.

On his musical journey Tim recently flirted with a five string bass. Some say this is close to being a guitar. He couldn’t bear the weight and returned to his old faithful.

Tim will one day see his dream fulfilled of a four chord song. He’ll always be busy on the next band project. Without a next obsession his ‘head would collapse with nothing in it’.”

STU
STUGuitar & Vocals
“As in any 00s rom com that’s worth a rewatch (if there is such a thing) it’s only fitting to pro-con our guitarist Stu, so the world can get to know him better and for us to decide whether it’s worth keeping him around.

+Plays a mean solo.
+Belts out 00s Pop RnB Rock fusion bangers so every vein is on show. (Could also be a con).
+Regularly suggests new 00s Pop RnB Rock fusion bangers for us to play, so Ed’s song choices never get used.
+Makes good cups of tea.
+Is a good hugger, but is not too huggy.
+Laughs along with public jokes about his manhood.
+Has own full band set up rehearsal space.
+Can use the flex “I’m totally self taught” about his guitar skills.
+Promotes the band like Eddie Hearn on steroids.
+Can do the worm.

-Is always too loud.
-Spills pints of beer over his equipment.
-Enjoys false starts to songs to keep the rest of us on our toes. We all catch up eventually.
-Likes to show off his neck veins by belting out 00s Pop RnB Rock fusion bangers (could also be a pro).
-Thought his 2 seater car was cooler than Tim’s motorbike.
-Hands over business cards between his index and second fingers.

Final decison? It was an easy decision.”

ED
EDPercussion & Vocals
“Ed is our drummer. He’s a multifaceted musician who has mastered the clarinet and saxophone but we don’t perform any songs requiring those instruments, we just needed a drummer. His talents extend into conducting too but we just needed a drummer and occasionally a drummer who can sing too. He gets a rough ride in this band, rarely getting any of his song choices into our setlist. We occasionally feel guilty about this, but not for long. Ed is notorious for his inability to reply to group WhatsApp messages. If you need a quick reply about availability for a gig or practise session, a range of failed attempts have led to us hijacking his family social media posts or just asking his wife. This lack of response has resulted in him being known within the band as “The Mute”. (Which is a bit weird for the loudest musician in a band) In fact he is sometimes referred to using the 😶 emoji. Eds big break came recently when we needed some vocals in a higher register for Mr Brightside but some of the guitar parts meant that Stu and Tim couldn’t pull it off. Ed was given a Britney Spears style mic to allow him to drum and sing simultaneously. If you notice him singing in a song, please shout BRITNEY BITCH!”
